“生产、制造”有不同的英文表达：Produce、Manufacture、make、fabricate，虽然同样表达生产的意思，但各有侧重。
Fabricate偏重于“装配、组装”
例如：Cables and towers are small and, therefore, easy to fabricate and erect.
钢索与塔柱均小，因此，易于制作与安装。
Manufacture——the process of producing goods in large quantities 大量制造；批量生产；偏重于“机器制造”，特别是大批量制造
例如：the manufacture of cars 汽车制造
Make偏重于手工制作，也有出产的意思
例如：Made in china
中国制造
make bread/cement/paper
制作面包；生产水泥╱纸张
Produce则比较笼统，既可以是机械制造，也可以是农作物生产。
例：The region produces over 50% of the country's wheat.
这个地区出产全国 50% 以上的小麦。
produce electricity
发电
factories that produce cars and trucks.
工厂生产汽车和卡车。
所以，在中译英的时候，要千万注意具体语境和不同用词之间的细微差别，尽量原汁原味地表达原文的含义。
